Treat Yo Self to a Baby Sprinkle Brunch
Share
Myself and one of my good friends were both expecting our second babies around the same time. She was having her second boy and I was having my second girl. In the past, it was traditional to only have a baby shower for a new mom. But modern mamas are now having baby sprinkles to celebrate the birth of their second baby. The idea is that rather than being “showered” with lots of bigger gifts that a new mom would need that has zero baby things, this party is just a “sprinkle” of few things that a mom of an incoming newborn would need to restock on. Plus, it’s an excuse to have a party, and I love a good party, so why not?!
Theme
You may have already guessed, but I am a fan of the show Parks and Rec. I am also a fan of Treating Myself and celebrating a Treat Yo Self moment. So when I thought about a theme for this Baby Sprinkle, and reflected on the baby shower I had for my first baby, it felt like the baby shower was all about my first baby, which seemed appropriate. I needed baby things. But now that I was a seasoned mom, this celebration was an opportunity to appreciate my family and friends. To acknowledge what we had all accomplished together and would need to continue to accomplish together with a new addition soon to come. To pamper everyone with gifts and a beautiful afternoon of love and yummy food. A chance to get together and just celebrate us. To quote Donna “TREAT YO SELF!”
Venue
We had our baby sprinkle at Legends Hall at the Marq in Southlake, Texas in the lounge and parlor space. It was an awesome space with beautiful vaulted ceiling and tons of natural light. The team there did a great job ensuring the space was well set up for the event and that we had all the tables and things that we needed.
We created these super cute centerpieces with baby onesie, glitter donut and “oh baby” baby sprinkle paper cut outs on sticks in both girl and boy colors from Oh So Fancy Party in glass mason jars with shimming pastel gumballs and sprinkle confetti balloons from Studio Pep tied to each centerpiece. Studio Pep also threw in some extra confetti that we threw on each table. The high top tables and table covering were supplied by the venue.
The Food
It wouldn’t be a Treat Yo Self baby sprinkle brunch without some amazing and decadent foods for everyone to enjoy and even go back for seconds and thirds. We had catering brought in from Another Broken Egg which had so many solid options to choose from, including bananas fosters pancakes, shrimp and grits and savory scramblers with a mix of eggs, meats and cheeses. It was all super yummy and came delivered with all the accompaniments, chafing dish sets and set up. Because you aren’t really treating yourself if you have to set up your own brunch!
We also had a friend who is a baker create a beautiful two tiered custom cake and ordered donuts from Peace, Love and Little Donuts in Southlake, Texas, which if you haven’t had, are dangerously addictive.
Games to Play
Leading up to the event, we let our guests know that we would be having a diaper and wipe raffle. For every pack of diapers or wipes that they brought to the event, they would get to add a entry to the drawing for one of two desirable “Treat Yo Self” themed prizes that we would be drawing for during the event. We had a roll of tickets at the event and two bowls with the two prizes next to the bowls so that guests could choose which prize they wanted to be in the running for. One prize was a gift card to receive a facial or massage from Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa. The second prize was a gift card to get a blow out at the Dry Bar. It was a great success for the guests and for myself and my good friend. You can see the stack of wipes and diapers in the picture. We didn’t have to buy wipes or diapers for a good couple months when my baby girl arrived!
During the event, we played a “Family Feud” style game from Pams Party Printables that had baby sprinkle themed questions. We split up into two teams for the game. I found these game show style buzzers so that the teams could buzz in when they have the answer during the game. Everyone got very competitive and it was really, really fun.
Pampering Prizes from Target
The winning team received a “Treat Yo Self” home pampering kit that included a bath bomb, nail polish kit, lip balm, hydrating face sheet mask and an eye mask in a cute gift bag that matched the party theme.
